Hi,

Welcome to Microsoft community and thank you for posting the question.

Before we proceed I would require some more information to assist you better.

1. What suite of Office 2013 is installed on the computer? Is it Office 2013 or Office 365?

2. Are you looking into the additional licensing details in Office.com My Account page?

Let us try the following and check if it helps in the activation issue.

Step 1:

As you have activated Office over by phone, let's restart the computer and then verify the results.

Step 2:

If issue persists, lets try activating Office 2013 again and check. Click on File, Account and then click on Activate Product.

For more information, refer to the following link 'Activate Office 2013 programs' and check if it helps:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/activate-office-2013-programs-HA102819770.aspx

I hope this fixes the issue. If not, reply and I will be happy to assist you further.

Thank you

I am currently experiencing the same problem with Office 2013 Pro Plus.  I installed and activated it and it is giving me two different messages, one saying that the Product is Activated and the other saying that Activation is Required.  I tried entering the activation code in again as well as rebooting the machine and neither has worked to fix the issue.

Is there anything I can modify, maybe in the registry so this displays correctly?

Thanks but it looks like that did not resolve the issue.  I still see both activation messages.

"Your subscription is expired" message in Office 365 after converting to a paid subscription

Exactly which Office bundle did you buy, one of the "Office 365 ???" bundles or one of the "Office 2013 ???" bundles?

Did you install your purchased copy of Office, or did you use the factory installed trial?

If you installed a purchased copy, go into Programs and Features to see is you have a factory installed trial of Office 365 as well as your purchased copy.  If you do, uninstall the factory trial and do an Office Repair of your installed copy.

Thanks for all the help guys.

I got Office 2013 - Microsoft Office Professional Plus from my companies HUP program.  I purchased my copy of Office via the HUP website.

This was a fresh re-imaged Windows 7 machine that I was installing Office 2013 on.  Here is exactly what I did that led up to this situation.

I had an Office 2013 - Microsoft Office Professional Plus ISO from my work, so I figured I would install that on my newly built Windows 7 machine.  I installed that copy of Office and then tried to use the product key I had received from the HUP version I purchased.  That did not work even though the product key was for the exact same version of Office 2013.  So I then uninstalled that instance of Office 2013 and installed Office 2013 via the link in my HUP email (see image).  Once I installed this and entered the product key everything worked except now I see 2 key activation notices, one saying its activated and the other saying it needs activation.

There is only one copy of Office 2013 installed on this machine.

It seems as if some of the stuff from the 1st installed Office did not get deleted, but I have no clue how to identify what that is.

Does your double notification look something like this in File menu > Account command?  This notice is for 2 2010 installations, but 2013 should look similar.

This situation occurs when you install a purchased copy of Office on a computer that has an unactivated factory installed trial.  In this case, it sounds like you did 2 installs, without a SUCCESSFUL uninstall. Same basic concept.

The simple fix is to uninstall the factory trial and do an Office repair of your purchased copy. If you can't tell which is which, then uninstall both and re-install and activate your purchased copy.

Use method 1 in this tip to get rid of the factory trial:

KB 2739501 Uninstall Office 2013 / 365 - Method 1 Fix It

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501 Office 2013, Office 365 and Office 2013 Preview uninstalls

(sorry, they have re-written the tip since I first looked at it!)

  • Method 1: Uninstall using Fix it
Note: If you are using a 64-bit operating system, save the fixit tool on the system and then run it from the saved location.
  • Method 2: Uninstall from Control Panel
  • Method 3: Remove manually

Method 1 in this tip does a more thorough job that the "normal" uninstall via Programs and Features (aka Method 2 in the tip). The Normal uninstall is designed with the assumption that you will be re-installing Office. It does NOT delete everything. It leaves configuration files like NORMAL.DOTM and other templates etc. and it also leaves configuration Registry entries. These "carry-overs" may contain corruption that is causing your problem.

Boot the computer. After the restart go to http://office.com/myaccount to re-install Office 365.

Thanks so much!!  I used Method 1 and that worked great.  It completely uninstalled Office.  I then re-installed it and everything worked great.  I did run into one issue though after re-installing.  I kept getting the message "Sorry we are having some temporary server issues" when trying to activate it again.  I was able to fix this by doing the following.

In the registry editor (regedit.exe), you findHKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Internet\WebServiceCache\AllUsers\office15client.microsoft.com

Delete all the subfolders of the ...\office15client.microsoft.com folder

Once I did that everything activated and works just as it should.

Thanks again for all the help everyone!!

I had this same issue in Office 2016 but these 2013 instructions worked, just have to go to a different folder for 2016.

Open a Command Prompt window, and then take one of the following actions:

• If you installed the 64-bit version of Office 2013, move to the following folder: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15

• If you installed the 32-bit version of Office 2013, move to the following folder: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15

Display the Current License(s) -Type the following command to display the license status. You will see one active license and one that is in a grace period.  Note the last five characters of any and all license keys that display in the output:

cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus

Remove the License that is still in the grace period: .

cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:<last five characters of product key for grace period install license>

Once the remove commands are successful, restart office programs

Hi all.

This happened to me and I found that if the activation was not done immediately after installation, orOffice 365 has been previously installed but is now changing user account. For the activation to "stick",Office 2013 requires administrator rights.

To fix the issue, try the following trick: Right click on shortcut ofWord 2013,Excel 2013 orPowerPoint 2013 in Start Menu or Start Screen, and selectRun as Administrator. Then, activate the Office suite.

Worked for me.
